What is Plagiarism?

PLAGIARISM, as the layman’s term would refer to as copying.  A person’s work should not be copied whether in part or whole as it may result to claiming authorship originally done by someone else.

I believe, a writer can thwart himself from committing plagiarism.  It is through proper paraphrasing that a certain idea copied from another source will be cited out properly.  Plagiarism, as comparable to stealing is subject to retribution and should be given adequate instance of focus and deterrence.  Many writers’ work were already cited in many others’ writings but were not even given due citation or mention in their pieces.  Plagiarism, as commonly committed by writers although many were unaware of should be prohibited as it may evolve in a form of permitted stealing.

As an author, one should be very cautious in his ideas.  He should be vigilant if his work is a mere reproduction of other author’s imagination, thought, design and proficiency.  Not only would an author be vigilant but responsible as well in citing other author’s concern and thoughts. Read more…
